IR Spectrometers

1.2K
There are two main infrared (IR) spectrophotometers: dispersive IR spectrometers and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometers. In a dispersive IR spectrometer, a beam of infrared radiation produced by a hot wire is divided into two parallel equal-intensity beams using mirrors. One beam passes through the sample, while another is a reference beam. The beams then move through the monochromator, which separates the radiations into a continuous spectrum of different frequencies. The...

Area of Science:

  • Quantum optics
  • Optical interferometry
  • Ultrafast phenomena

Background:

  • Interferometers are sensitive to phase differences and widely used.
  • Quantum SU(1,1) interferometers offer enhanced sensitivity over classical designs.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To theoretically develop and experimentally demonstrate a temporal SU(1,1) interferometer.
  • To leverage its high temporal resolution and phase derivative sensitivity for advanced applications.

Main Methods:

  • Utilized two time lenses in a 4f configuration to create the temporal interferometer.
  • Investigated interference in both time and spectral domains.

Main Results:

  • Achieved a high temporal resolution interferometer.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the phase derivative for ultrafast phase change detection.

Conclusions:

  • The temporal SU(1,1) interferometer is a powerful tool for quantum optics.
  • Potential applications include temporal mode encoding, imaging, and studying quantum light's ultrafast temporal structure.
