Abstract:
Understanding how SARS-CoV-2 evades neutralizing antibodies is crucial for the development of therapeutic antibodies and universal vaccines. In this issue of Structure, Patel et al. elucidate mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2 escape from two major antibody classes. Cryoelectron microscopy (cryo-EM) structures of these antibodies with the SARS-CoV-2 spike formed the basis of their findings.
