The Senhance Surgical System offers a feasible and safe robotic radical prostatectomy (RRP) with good initial outcomes. This 3-year study highlights its effectiveness in patient care.
Area of Science:
- Robotic Surgery
- Urologic Oncology
- Surgical Innovation
Background:
- Senhance Surgical System, a novel robotic platform, has been utilized at University Hospital Centre Zagreb since February 2019.
- This study details the initial 3-year clinical experience with the Senhance platform.
Purpose of the Study:
- To evaluate the feasibility and safety of robotic radical prostatectomy (RRP) using the Senhance Surgical System.
- To report on the initial outcomes and complications associated with this robotic platform.
Main Methods:
- Prospective data collection from 200 patients undergoing extraperitoneal RRP between May 2019 and March 2022.
- Analysis of patient demographics, surgical outcomes, complication rates, and functional results.
Main Results:
- The median patient age was 65 years, with a median PSA of 6.9 ng/mL; most patients had T1c stage disease.
- Estimated blood loss averaged 250 mL, with 8 conversions to open or laparoscopic procedures.
- 15 early postoperative complications were recorded (11 Clavien-Dindo grade I, 3 grade II, 1 grade IV).
- Among the first 150 patients, 93.3% demonstrated good urinary control.
Conclusions:
- Robotic radical prostatectomy performed with the Senhance system is a feasible and safe surgical option.
- The procedure demonstrates promising initial functional and oncological outcomes.
