Summary

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and SARS-CoV-2 can trigger autoimmune diseases through molecular mimicry. Shared peptide sequences between these viruses and human proteins, binding to specific HLA alleles, may increase autoimmune risk in infected individuals.
