Propofol is a widely used agent formulated as a 1% emulsion in soybean oil, glycerol, and egg phosphatide. Summary

Canadian anesthesiologists now have a refined list of 20 quality indicators for continuous self-assessment. This supports the mandate for continuous quality improvement (cQI) in medical practice.

  • A subset of 20 indicators were ranked as the highest priority.
  • The final list included indicators across process, structure, and outcome domains.

Conclusions:

  • The ranked list of anesthesia quality indicators can assist clinicians with mandated cQI.
  • Future research should explore the feasibility, usability, and significance of process versus outcome measures.
