    Background:

    • Ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) is a common surgical procedure for ulcerative colitis and familial adenomatous polyposis.
    • Historically, IPAA procedures have faced challenges including anastomotic complications and functional outcomes.
    • Optimizing reservoir design is crucial for improving patient outcomes and quality of life after IPAA.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the outcomes of ileoanal reservoir construction in patients with ulcerative colitis, polyposis, and Hirschsprung's disease.
    • To assess the impact of different reservoir designs on complication rates and functional results.
    • To compare patient-reported quality of life with ileostomy versus ileoanal reservoir.

    • Retrospective analysis of 119 patients undergoing ileoanal reservoir surgery between 1976 and 1985.
