Association between dental procedures and periprosthetic joint infection: A case-crossover study

Dental procedures do not increase the risk of late periprosthetic joint infection (LPJI). This finding questions the need for antibiotic prophylaxis before dental procedures in patients with joint replacements.

- These findings may prompt a re-evaluation of routine antibiotic prophylaxis recommendations before dental procedures for patients with joint implants.
