Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the correlation between serum CRP levels and PSGS in periodontitis patients.
  • To assess the relationship between systemic and periodontal inflammation markers.

Main Methods:

  • 85 systemically healthy periodontitis patients were enrolled.
  • Periodontal inflammation assessed using PSGS and serum CRP levels.
  • Descriptive and inferential statistics were employed for data analysis.

Main Results:

  • PSGS scores ranged from 24 to 213; CRP levels ranged from 0.5 to 3.23 mg/l.
  • A positive correlation was observed between PSGS and CRP levels.
  • Significant associations were found between gender and periodontitis severity (p<0.02) and gender and CRP levels (p<0.001).

Conclusions:

  • Serum CRP levels increase notably with periodontitis severity.
  • A significant correlation exists between systemic and periodontal inflammation markers.
  • Gender is associated with both periodontitis severity and CRP levels.
