Comparing the Salzmann Index to automatic qualifying conditions when selecting medically necessary orthodontic

The Salzmann Index (SI) and Automatic Qualifying Conditions (AQC) do not identify the same patients for medically necessary orthodontic care (MNOC). Replacing the SI with AQCs would significantly alter eligibility for Medicaid-funded orthodontic treatment in Pennsylvania.
