Area of Science:

  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Regenerative Medicine
  • Wound Healing Research

Background:

  • Electrical stimulation (ES) is widely explored for wound healing.
  • It offers multidimensional effects: antibacterial, galvanotaxis, growth factor secretion, proliferation, transdifferentiation, and angiogenesis.
  • Despite extensive research, ES is not yet an established clinical treatment.

Conclusions:

  • A standardized protocol for in vitro ES studies is crucial for reproducibility and scalability.
  • Unification of in vitro approaches can facilitate translation to clinical applications.
  • Standardized ES research can establish it as a controlled clinical method for wound healing modulation.
