    Area of Science:

    • Infectious Diseases
    • Cardiology
    • Medical Microbiology

    Background:

    • Prosthetic valve endocarditis (PVE) is a serious complication following cardiac valve replacement surgery.
    • Cardiobacterium hominis is a rare but potential cause of infective endocarditis, particularly in patients with prosthetic valves.
    • Long-term management and treatment strategies for PVE caused by unusual pathogens require further elucidation.
