This study evaluated epoxy anticorrosion coating repair methods. Marathon 500 and Jotamastic 90 GF are suitable for partial repair, while Jotamastic 90 and Marathon 500 excel in integral repair of steel structures.
Area of Science:
- Materials Science
- Corrosion Engineering
- Protective Coatings
Background:
- Epoxy anticorrosion coatings are vital for steel structure protection.
- Degradation necessitates effective repair strategies to maintain structural integrity.
- Evaluating different repair methods is crucial for long-term performance.
Purpose of the Study:
- To assess the performance of epoxy anticorrosion coating repair methods.
- To compare partial versus integral repair strategies.
- To establish repair criteria and propose a repair strategy for steel structures.
Main Methods:
- Testing two repair strategies: partial and integral repair.
- Measuring gloss loss rate, color difference, and rust area rate of repair coatings.
- Comparing anticorrosion performance based on repair methods.
Main Results:
- Marathon 500 (M500) and Jotamastic 90 GF (J90GF) are suitable for partial repair.
- Jotamastic 90 (J90) and Marathon 500 (M500) are suitable for integral repair.
- Defined repair criteria and proposed a repair strategy for epoxy anticorrosive coatings.
Conclusions:
- Specific epoxy paints demonstrate suitability for distinct repair methods.
- The findings support optimized repair strategies for extending coating lifespan.
- Established criteria aid in selecting appropriate repair techniques for steel structures.
