Blood pressure parameters like pulse pressure (PP) do not predict mortality in dialysis patients with diabetes. However, a U-curve for PP suggests optimal ranges for cardiovascular mortality risk.

- Systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and mean arterial pressure (MAP) are established cardiovascular mortality (CVM) risk factors.

Conclusions:
- Predialytic blood pressure parameters at study entry are not significant predictors of mortality in end-stage renal disease patients with long-standing diabetes mellitus.
- High rates of competing mortality risk factors may overshadow the impact of blood pressure control in this population.

Monitoring BP in both arms during the initial assessment is advisable, as the systolic value may differ by five to ten mm Hg between arms. For subsequent BP assessments, use the arm with the higher reading.
