Transformers in Distribution System01:27

Transformers in Distribution System

105
Transformers in distribution systems can be broadly categorized into distribution substation transformers and other distribution transformers. They are crucial for stepping down high transmission voltages to levels suitable for distribution and end-user applications.
Distribution substation transformers come in various ratings and typically use mineral oil for insulation and cooling. To prevent moisture and air from entering the oil, some transformers use an inert gas like nitrogen to fill the...

Block Diagram Reduction01:22

Block Diagram Reduction

221
The process of deriving the transfer function of a control system often involves reducing its block diagram to a single block. This simplification can be achieved through a series of strategic operations, including relocating branch points and comparators. These operations preserve the overall function of the system while allowing for easier manipulation and combination of blocks.
The first step in this process is the identification and relocation of a branch point. A branch point, where a...

Base Quantities and Derived Quantities01:14

Base Quantities and Derived Quantities

20.2K
In any system of units, the units for some physical quantities must be specified through a measurement process. These measurements are the base quantities of the system, and their units are the base units of the system. The algebraic combinations of the base values can then be used to express all other physical quantities. Each of these physical quantities is then referred to as a derived quantity, with each unit being referred to as a derived unit.
The International Organization for...

Per-Unit Sequence Models01:26

Per-Unit Sequence Models

77
An ideal Y-Y transformer, grounded through neutral impedances, displays per-unit sequence networks akin to those of a single-phase ideal transformer when subjected to balanced positive- or negative-sequence currents. These currents do not produce neutral currents, and their associated voltage drops.
Zero-sequence currents, which are identical in magnitude and phase, generate a neutral current, resulting in voltage drops across the neutral impedance and the low-voltage winding. If the...

Data Reporting and Recording01:24

Data Reporting and Recording

4.7K
Reporting and recording are crucial in data documentation. The timely, thorough, and accurate documentation of facts is essential when recording patient data. Failure to record findings during an assessment or interpretation of a problem will result in loss of information and make the patient document unreliable. The reader is left with general impressions if the information is not specific. A recording is documenting data of the individual's health information in a traceable, secure, and...

Design Example: Capacitance Multiplier Circuit

792
In integrated circuit technology, a capacitance multiplier is often utilized to produce a larger capacitance value when a small physical capacitance falls short. This is achieved by a circuit that multiplies capacitance values by a factor of up to 1000, such that a 10-pF capacitor can replicate the performance of a 100-nF capacitor.
The circuit illustrated in Figure 1 below incorporates two op-amps, with the first operating as a voltage follower and the second acting as an inverting amplifier.

Area of Science:

  • Computer Science
  • Engineering

Background:

  • Quick Response (QR) Codes are widely used in electronic transactions and industry.
  • The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) can benefit from QR Code flexibility, but traditional QR Codes have limited data storage.
  • Existing methods to increase QR Code capacity are limited.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To enhance the data storage capacity of QR Codes specifically for the IIoT domain.

Main Methods:

  • Developed a 4-State QR (4SQR) Code using a 4-State-Pattern-based encoding technique, incorporating four patterns (Black Square Box, White Square Box, Triangle, Circle).
  • Implemented an adaptive YOLO V5 algorithm for decoding the 4SQR Code images back into original data.

Main Results:

  • The 4SQR Code encoding and decoding modules were successfully tested in a Digital Twin framework.
  • 3000 random test samples were used, demonstrating successful conversion to 4SQR Code images and accurate data retrieval.

Conclusions:

  • The proposed 4SQR Code technique effectively doubles the data storage capacity compared to traditional 2-State QR Codes.
  • This advancement offers a significant improvement for data-intensive IIoT applications.
