Systemic acquired resistance (SAR) involves mobile signals that trigger plant defenses. This study reveals that extracellular nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (phosphate) [eNAD(P)] and LecRK-VI.2 are crucial for SAR, with NHP-induced immunity relying on ROS and eNAD(P).
