[Short-term antibiotic prophylaxis in elective abdominal surgery]

The frequency of the infections in the surgical pounds is still high, and remarkably affects the cost of surgical patient: this is prevailingly due to the extension of hospitalization because of the infective complication. The Authors recognized the S.T.P. as a technique significantly reducing the risks of infection, without remarkably affecting the costs, and exempt from the secondary effects consequent to the extended antibiotic prophylaxis.
