  • Participants significantly improved cytological screening skills, reducing false negatives by 78% (non-experienced) and 100% (experienced).
  • Non-experienced cytologists showed significant improvements in recognizing low-grade (31%) and high-grade (50%) squamous intraepithelial lesions.
  • Users positively rated the module for its novelty, remote training capabilities, immediate feedback, and image quality.

Conclusions:

  • A VM-eLM for Gynecologic Cytopathology Education was successfully designed, implemented, and tested.
  • The module enhanced cytological screening skills for all participants and improved diagnostic accuracy for preinvasive lesions in less experienced cytologists.
  • Participants reported perceived improvements in their interpretive skills and positively evaluated the e-learning experience.
