Teeth

435
The formation of teeth, also known as odontogenesis, is a complex process that begins in utero, around the sixth week of embryonic development. There are three stages to this process: the bud stage, the cap stage, and the bell stage.
In the bud stage, the tooth germ (an aggregation of cells) starts to form in the developing jawbone. During the cap stage, the tooth germ differentiates into enamel organ, dental papilla, and dental sac, which will later develop into the tooth's enamel, dentin...

Summary

Deep Margin Elevation (DME) may offer benefits over surgical crown lengthening due to less invasiveness. However, its conclusive effects on periodontal tissues require further investigation with clinical parameters and inflammatory biomarkers.

  • Restorative Dentistry
  • Background:

    • Deep margin elevation (DME) is a technique used in restorative dentistry.
    • Understanding its effects on the periodontium is crucial for clinical decision-making.

    Conclusions:

    • DME presents a less invasive alternative to surgical crown lengthening.
    • Further research is necessary to definitively establish the effects of DME on periodontal tissues, focusing on clinical parameters and inflammatory markers.
