Summary

A highly pathogenic Bacillus cereus strain (Y271) caused a disease outbreak and high mortality in Chinese Softshell Turtles (Pelodiscus sinensis). This bacterium, identified by its toxin genes, significantly damaged turtle organs and altered gut microbiota.
