[The mastoid cavity and auditory canal meatoplasty. Relations between corresponding indications]

The indications for conservation of the posterior wall of the auditory canal versus mastoid cavity are described. For a dry cavity the relation of volume of cavity to entrance of meatus is of considerable importance. The necessity of meatoplasty is pointed out. Classical techniques described 100 years ago can still be used today with only slight modifications.
