[Size determination of abdominal and retroperitoneal organs by means of ultrasound]

Measurements of the liver, spleen and kidneys have shown that the measured size depends on the respiratory phase and on the position of organs in the abdomen or retroperitoneum, respectively. Hence, statements of the size of these organs or organ parts must be accompanied by data on the respiratory phase and positioning of the patient.
