    This study examined alcohol consumption and mortality over 15 years. Very heavy drinking in men was linked to increased all-cause mortality compared to light drinking, but light drinking showed no protective effect against ischemic heart disease.

    • Careful consideration of confounding factors is essential when analyzing alcohol-mortality associations.
