[Determination of the optimal growth conditions for microorganisms by using l4C-bicarbonate]

A technique of short-term experiments using 14C-bicarbonate has been proposed for rapid determination of the optimal conditions of growth of autotrophic and heterotrophic microorganisms. The technique is described and its advantages and limitations are discussed.
