This study presents an optimal renewable energy source (RES) plan for Turkey through 2050. Wind energy is prioritized, followed by biomass and hydroelectric, to maximize sustainability and minimize costs.

Background:

Growing adoption of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) offers environmental and sustainability benefits.
Turkey's energy landscape requires strategic planning for long-term RES integration.
Accurate energy consumption forecasting is crucial for effective RES deployment.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop a long-term optimal RES settlement strategic plan for all 81 provinces in Turkey.
To integrate energy consumption forecasts with risk analysis for a robust planning model.
To optimize RES deployment considering multiple objectives including cost, time, environmental impact, and risk.

Main Methods:

Energy consumption forecasting using the regARIMA method.
Development of a weighted goal programming model integrating regARIMA outputs and risk analysis.
Optimization using GAMS 23.5 software to solve the multi-objective model.

Main Results:

The regARIMA model demonstrated high accuracy (MAPE < 4%) for energy consumption forecasting.
The optimal RES settlement strategy prioritizes wind energy (53%), followed by biomass (23%) and hydroelectric (13%).
The model successfully minimized installation time, costs, and risk while maximizing carbon emission reduction and usage time.

Conclusions:

The integrated weighted goal programming model provides effective solutions for RES settlement planning in Turkey.
The proposed strategy ensures comprehensive coverage across all provinces, utilizing real-world data.
The findings support informed decision-making for sustainable and cost-effective renewable energy infrastructure development.
