Background:

Web-based health information (WBHI) is increasingly used for public education and treatment adherence.
Evaluating the quality of context-specific WBHI is vital for addressing health literacy disparities.
Assessing Arabic WBHI on oral lichen planus (OLP) is crucial for improving patient understanding and outcomes.

Purpose of the Study:

To explore and evaluate the quality of publicly available Arabic web-based health information on oral lichen planus (OLP).

Main Methods:

Searched Arabic terms for OLP on general platforms, reviewing initial results.
Excluded non-public, non-provider, and non-OLP related content.
Assessed quality using DISCERN, JAMA benchmarks, and HON criteria.

Main Results:

49 of 911 resources met inclusion criteria; most were commercially affiliated.
WBHI quality varied, with few meeting all JAMA benchmarks or scoring high on all instruments.
Academic affiliations generally produced higher quality content than commercial ones.

Conclusions:

Significant variability exists in the quality of Arabic OLP WBHI, with most resources being of moderate quality.
Collaboration between commercial and academic institutions is recommended to enhance WBHI quality.
Integrating international quality assessment guidelines can improve the utility of OLP WBHI.
