Prevalence of Thyroid Dysfunction in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Thyroid dysfunction is more common in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) than in non-diabetics. Screening for thyroid dysfunction, particularly hypothyroidism, is recommended for T2DM patients, especially those over 50 or with high fasting plasma glucose.
