Left ventricular dimensions and systolic function in young adults with mild hypertension

Mean values of ESWS, FFS% and Vcf were increased. Increased performance in the face of increased after-load signifies increased cardiac contractility. Increased ESWS equals inadequate compensatory hypertrophy. Hence, ESWS is probably not a major adjustor of left ventricular free wall thickness.
