Database interoperability presents significant challenges for collaboration among disparate organizations.
Existing data sharing methods often struggle to balance broad access with robust data protection policies.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop a lightweight system for secure and controlled data sharing across organizations.
To enhance collaboration in clinical research by addressing database interoperability issues.

Main Methods:

Developed the Secure Federated Data Sharing System (SFDS), a proof-of-concept system.
Utilized Next-generation Database Access Control (NDAC) for field-level access control based on user attributes.
Implemented the Data Block Matrix (DBM) using a modified open-source permissioned blockchain for managing user-attribute assignments across federated organizations.

Main Results:

Successfully demonstrated onboarding of new users with policy-preserving access to local database resources.
