Fibroblast Growth Factor 21 (FGF21) is upregulated in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). FGF21 levels and the rs838133 variant are linked to increased risk of steatohepatitis and fibrosis in MASLD patients.
