  • To characterize a pediatric cohort undergoing patch testing at a North American center.
  • To identify common allergens and sensitization rates in children with suspected ACD.
  • To analyze the relevance of personal products and non-standard allergens in pediatric ACD.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective chart review of 135 patients aged 1-17 years tested between July 2020 and August 2023.
  • Data stratified by age groups: 1-5, 6-11, and 12-17 years.
  • Significance-Prevalence Index Numbers (SPIN) calculated for allergen relevance.

  • 86% of pediatric patients were sensitized, with 40% experiencing relevant reactions.

Conclusions:

  • ACD affects pediatric males and females equally.
  • 14% of identified top allergens were not on the standard North American Contact Dermatitis Group series.
  • Testing with supplemental allergens and personal products is crucial for accurate pediatric ACD diagnosis.
