Background:

  • Bladder cancer (BC) is a significant global health concern, ranking as the 12th most diagnosed cancer.
  • Existing molecular and immunological classifications of BC lack sufficient prognostic and predictive markers for both tumor and immune cells.
  • There is a critical need for novel biomarkers to improve patient stratification and treatment decisions in muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC).

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the prognostic and predictive value of chemokine CC motif ligand 5 (CCL5) expression in tumor cells (TCs) and immune cells (ICs).
  • To assess the association between CCL5 expression and survival outcomes, including disease-specific survival (DSS), overall survival (OS), and recurrence-free survival (RFS) in MIBC patients.
  • To evaluate the predictive role of CCL5 expression in response to adjuvant chemotherapy.

  • Analysis of CCL5 expression using immunohistochemistry (IHC) on a tissue microarray from 175 muscle-invasive bladder cancer samples.
