Association analysis between the VDR gene variants and type 2 diabetes.

Vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene polymorphism rs731236 is linked to increased type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) risk in Iranians. The rs1544410 VDR polymorphism showed no significant association with T2DM susceptibility.

Conclusions:
- The rs731236 polymorphism in the VDR gene may represent a risk factor for T2DM in the Iranian population.
- The rs1544410 polymorphism appears to have no significant association with T2DM susceptibility in this cohort.
- Further research across diverse populations is recommended to validate these findings and elucidate underlying mechanisms.
