Effective leadership identification is critical during labor and delivery emergencies.
Previous research on visual cues for leadership designation in healthcare has yielded mixed results.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the efficacy of a red surgical hat as a visual leadership cue in obstetric emergency simulations.
To compare the impact of visual versus verbal leadership declarations.

Main Methods:

A mixed-methods approach was employed.
Analysis of simulation-based education videos and debriefing transcripts.

Main Results:

Participants were more likely to visually declare leadership by donning a red hat than verbally.
The red surgical hat was perceived as a more effective leadership cue than verbal declarations.
A statistically significant difference was observed in leadership declaration methods.

Conclusions:
