Self-Report Tests of Personality

Self-report inventories are objective personality assessments that use multiple-choice items or numbered scales, typically ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). They are often called Likert scales after Rensis Likert. These inventories are widely used due to their ease of administration and cost-effectiveness. One of the most prominent examples is the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), initially developed in the 1940s to assess abnormal personality traits.

Background:

Implementation Support Practitioners (ISPs) facilitate the adoption of evidence-informed practices.
Measuring ISP competencies is vital for understanding their impact on sustainable change in complex systems.
A validated tool is needed to assess these critical skills across diverse service contexts.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop and validate a reliable and valid measure of implementation support competencies.
To assess the psychometric properties of the Implementation Support Competencies Assessment (ISCA).
To provide a tool for evaluating ISP skills essential for successful implementation.

Main Methods:

Development of the ISCA based on existing competency frameworks and expert input.
Refinement through cognitive interviewing and pilot-testing with individuals in implementation practice.
Validation using confirmatory factor analyses on a sample of 357 self-identified ISPs.

Main Results:

The ISCA demonstrated strong internal consistency reliability for its item sets.
Confirmatory factor analyses supported the factorial and construct validity of the ISCA's three domains.
Competency levels were strongly associated with theorized outcomes for successful implementation.

Conclusions:

The ISCA is a foundational tool for measuring and improving ISP competencies.
High competence levels are linked to better implementation outcomes.
The ISCA supports workforce development and tailored implementation strategy delivery.
