Summary

A new slider audiometry method offers user control for hearing tests. While valid at higher frequencies, it showed lower thresholds at lower frequencies compared to manual audiometry.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate a novel user-operated audiometry method for determining pure-tone hearing thresholds.

  • A comparative study involving 37 adult participants (30 hearing-impaired, 7 normal-hearing).
  • Participants underwent manual audiometry (six frequencies) followed by test-retests of a new slider audiometry method (eight frequencies).
