    Area of Science:

    • Reproductive Endocrinology
    • Assisted Reproductive Technologies

    Background:

    • Optimizing oocyte retrieval timing is crucial for successful assisted reproduction.
    • Superovulation protocols vary based on patient age and ovarian reserve.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To precisely time human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) administration for optimal oocyte recovery during superovulated cycles.
    • To evaluate the efficacy of different superovulation regimens.

    Main Methods:

    • Ultrasonographic, clinical, and hormonal monitoring of 37 patients undergoing superovulation.
    • Superovulation induction using Clomiphene or Clomiphene and human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG) based on patient criteria.
    • Follicular aspiration and oocyte assessment.

    Main Results:

    • 21 patients underwent follicular aspiration, yielding 1.5 mature oocytes per patient.
    • A fertilization rate of 63% was achieved from 48 oocytes (mature and immature).
    • 29 embryos cleaved and were transferred to 13 patients.

    Conclusions:

    • Ultrasonographic, clinical, and hormonal monitoring effectively times HCG administration for optimal oocyte recovery.
    • The study demonstrates a feasible approach to oocyte retrieval and fertilization in superovulated cycles.
