    Summary

    Iohexol contrast media showed fewer adverse reactions than metrizamide during C1-C2 puncture myelography. Radiographic quality was similar, and combining procedures did not increase side effects.

    Background:

    • Myelography is a diagnostic imaging procedure used to visualize the spinal canal.
    • Metrizamide and iohexol are water-soluble contrast media used in myelography.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To compare the safety and efficacy of metrizamide and iohexol contrast media for myelography.
    • To evaluate the incidence of postprocedure adverse reactions associated with each contrast agent.
    • To assess the quality of radiographic demonstration in the cervical region using both media.

    Main Methods:

    • A comparative study involving 64 patients undergoing myelography via lateral C1-C2 puncture.
