Dimensions of Health and Illness01:21

Dimensions of Health and Illness

7.2K
The factors influencing the health-illness continuum can be internal or external and may or may not be under conscious control. They are related to the following eight human dimensions, and each dimension is interrelated to one other.

Self-Report Tests of Personality01:22

Self-Report Tests of Personality

317
Self-report inventories are objective personality assessments that use multiple-choice items or numbered scales, typically ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). They are often called Likert scales after Rensis Likert. These inventories are widely used due to their ease of administration and cost-effectiveness. One of the most prominent examples is the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), initially developed in the 1940s to assess abnormal personality traits.

Nursing Process for Patient and Caregiver Teaching I: Assessment and Diagnosis

1.5K
The nursing process provides a clinical decision-making framework for patients and families to establish and implement a personalized care plan. Since part of the nurse's duties is to teach patients, the steps of the nursing process are the most effective way to approach instruction. The nursing process and the teaching-learning process are inextricably linked.
It is critical to determine the patient's learning needs during the assessment. Determination of learning needs compounds data...

Traits, Mood, and Subjective Wellbeing

64
Subjective well-being (SWB) refers to an individual's self-evaluation of their overall life satisfaction, happiness, and fulfillment. This multifaceted construct is typically assessed by analyzing the balance of positive and negative emotions alongside perceptions of life satisfaction. Personality traits such as neuroticism and extraversion are strongly associated with variations in SWB, offering critical insights into the underlying mechanisms of emotional well-being.

Data Validation01:03

Data Validation

5.0K
Data validation is an essential part of a comprehensive assessment. Validation is confirming or verifying and opening the door to gathering more assessment data as it clarifies vague or unclear data. The process of checking and verifying the collected information is called data validation. The primary purpose of data validation is to ensure data is as free from error, bias, and misinterpretation as possible.
Nursing assessment guides are generally based on holistic models rather than medical...

Nursing Evaluation01:15

Nursing Evaluation

3.3K
The evaluation stage signals the end of the nursing process. The nurse gathers evaluative data to assess whether or not the patient has attained the expected results. Whereas the nurse collects data in the nursing assessment to identify the patient's health concerns, the evaluation stage data determines if the indicated health issues are resolved. Evaluative data collection includes two sections: the data acquired to evaluate patient outcomes and the time criteria for data collection.

Area of Science:

  • Medical Education
  • Psychometrics
  • Occupational Health

Background:

  • Lack of validated tools to assess clinical teachers' occupational well-being in Taiwan.
  • Need for a culturally adapted instrument to accurately measure well-being in this population.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop and validate the Taiwanese version of the Clinical Teachers' Occupational Well-Being Dimensions Scale (CTOWDS).
  • To provide a culturally relevant and psychometrically sound instrument for assessing clinical teachers' occupational well-being in Taiwan.

Main Methods:

  • Scale development involved literature review and expert consultation.
  • Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) on 346 participants to determine dimensional structure.
  • Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) on 255 participants for validation.
  • Assessment of internal consistency, convergent/discriminant validity, and goodness-of-fit.

Main Results:

  • The CTOWDS was refined to 29 items across five dimensions: personal qualities, academic/career pressure, teaching experience, learning experience, and teaching/communication pressure.
  • The five dimensions accounted for 65.279% of the total variance.
  • CFA confirmed the five-dimensional structure with good validity and reliability (Cronbach's alpha > 0.70).

Conclusions:

  • The developed CTOWDS is a reliable and culturally relevant instrument.
  • It is suitable for assessing the occupational well-being of clinical teachers in Taiwan.
  • This scale addresses a critical need in Taiwanese clinical and healthcare education.
