Background:

The nursing process is fundamental for systematic patient health management.
Effective evaluation of nursing education requires tools that align with clinical practice.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop and validate a measurement tool for evaluating nursing process cognitive dimensions.
To enhance the integration of cognitive skills across nursing education and clinical practice.

Main Methods:

A cross-sectional, methodological study was conducted.
A 28-item nursing process performance tool was developed based on revised Bloom's taxonomy.
Reliability and validity were assessed via survey of 406 nursing students in South Korea.

Main Results:

The tool systematically measures cognitive dimensions in assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
The tool demonstrated good reliability (Cronbach's α = 0.85) and construct validity (cumulative variance = 68.1%).
Scores range from 28-140, with higher scores indicating better nursing process performance.

Conclusions:

The developed tool provides a basis for evaluating nursing curricula and educational approaches.
It strengthens the link between nursing education and clinical practice.
The tool can evaluate learning outcomes and serve as a standardized nursing process guide.
