Effect of electroconvulsive shock on the cervical evoked potential in the rat

The effect of electroconvulsive shock on the cervical somatosensory evoked potential was studied in 20 male rats. Shock (80 mA for 600 ms) had no detectable effect on either the latency or amplitude of the cervical potential. This contrasts with the total loss of the cortical somatosensory evoked potential following electroconvulsive shock.
