Background:

  • Bell palsy (BP) is a common cause of acute peripheral facial palsy, impacting function and quality of life.
  • Electroacupuncture (EA) is explored as a treatment for BP, but optimal waveform remains undetermined.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare the efficacy and safety of continuous versus intermittent electroacupuncture waveforms in treating Bell palsy.
  • To investigate treatment effects across different Bell palsy severity groups based on electroneurography (ENoG) values.

  • A pilot randomized, two-arm, three-center clinical trial involving 120 patients with Bell palsy.
