A method of producing improved scars following excision of small lesions of the back
Annals of Plastic Surgery
|November 1, 1979
Abstract:
Twelve benign lesions were excised from the back using the accepted elliptical excisions with suturing. At follow-up, all scars had stretched to become much larger than the original lesion. By contrast, 12 lesions of similar size were excised with minimal margin and the resultant defect allowed to heal by contraction and epithelialization. This method was quicker and less painful, and produced significantly smaller scars than the conventional method.
