    Summary

    A rare case of cervical diastematomyelia in an adult, a spinal cord malformation, was successfully treated. Surgical removal of a bone and fat spur improved the patient's neurological deficits.

    Background:

    • Cervical diastematomyelia is a rare congenital spinal cord malformation.
    • Adult presentation is uncommon, often presenting after trauma.

    Observation:

    • A 34-year-old patient developed sensory and motor deficits following cervical trauma.
    • Imaging revealed a bony and fatty spur at C2-C3, causing spinal cord division (diastematomyelia).

    Findings:

    • Surgical excision of the C2-C3 spur was performed.
    • Postoperative recovery showed gradual improvement in neurological deficits.

    Implications:

    • This case highlights the possibility of adult-onset cervical diastematomyelia.
    • Surgical intervention can lead to positive outcomes in affected individuals.
