  • Over 60% of surgical nurses reported no formal education or training on using surgical checklists.
  • A significant majority were unaware of who was responsible for checklist implementation (89.9%).
  • While 56.4% reported checklist use in emergencies, 12.8% doubted its impact on patient safety.

  • Compliance with the WHO surgical checklist is inconsistent and often lower than documented.
  • There is a need for clearer surgical procedures and a designated responsible person for checklist implementation.
  • Addressing training gaps and clarifying roles can enhance checklist effectiveness and patient safety.
