Background:

Older veterans with multiple health conditions face unique challenges in physical rehabilitation.
Traditional programs often fail to meet the diverse needs of this population.
Multimorbidity complicates adherence and engagement with physical therapy.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess the feasibility and acceptability of a novel MultiComponent TeleRehabilitation (MCTR) program.
To evaluate the MCTR program's suitability for older veterans with multimorbidity.
To determine if telerehabilitation can effectively serve veterans with complex health needs.

Main Methods:

A randomized controlled cross-over feasibility study was conducted.
Fifty veterans (age ≥60, ≥3 comorbidities) participated via telehealth.
The MCTR program included high-intensity rehabilitation, coaching, social support, and technology over 12 weeks.

Main Results:

High adherence was observed: 78% for total sessions and 90% for individual sessions.
The program was highly acceptable, with 96% rating it favorably.
Most safety events were minor and comparable to in-person rehabilitation.

Conclusions:

The MultiComponent TeleRehabilitation (MCTR) program demonstrated feasibility and high acceptability in older veterans.
Telerehabilitation offers a viable approach to delivering physical rehabilitation to this complex population.
Findings support the integration of MCTR programs for similar veteran groups.
