Summary

Uncemented total hip arthroplasty (THA) shows a lower revision rate and risk compared to hybrid THA. Hybrid THA revisions were often due to loosening, while uncemented THA revisions were mainly due to polyethylene wear.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare uncemented and hybrid THA implants.
  • Evaluate differences in implant survival, revision risk, and causes for revision.
  • Provide evidence to inform the selection of fixation methods in THA.

  • Retrospective study of 199 uncemented and hybrid THA implants.

  • Uncemented implants, while susceptible to polyethylene wear, generally require less complex revision procedures.
