Background:

Dementia risk is linked to lifestyle factors, necessitating effective public education.
Web-based interventions show promise for dementia prevention but require rigorous study.
DementiaRisk is an award-winning platform offering multimedia e-learning on modifiable dementia risk factors.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the impact of the DementiaRisk platform on dementia risk knowledge, behavioral intentions, and health behaviors.
To explore user engagement, satisfaction, and barriers/facilitators related to the DementiaRisk intervention.

Main Methods:

A sequential explanatory mixed methods design was employed.
485 participants were randomized to DementiaRisk or an alternative e-learning control.
Assessments of knowledge, intentions, and behaviors were conducted at baseline, 4 weeks, and 2 months.

Main Results:

Study approval and funding were secured in 2022-2023.
Participant recruitment occurred in March-April 2023.
Data analysis and interpretation are currently in progress.

Conclusions:

DementiaRisk is a scalable, technology-enhanced solution for dementia prevention education.
The platform utilizes evidence-based multimedia learning principles.
It has the potential for wide dissemination via the internet, reaching a broad audience.
