[Collective food poisoning in nursing homes, intervention and contribution of an EMG]

Mobile geriatric teams (EMGs) play an expert role in complex situations involving elderly people. The presentation of the management of a suspected case of collective toxi-infection in an establishment for dependent elderly people provides an opportunity to understand the value of these EMGs. Their mobility, as well as their ability to analyse and bring together different departments, means they can react quickly, which is particularly useful in a crisis involving elderly, and therefore vulnerable, residents. The EMGs are therefore proving to be key support players for nursing homes, whose staff resources are often fragile.
