Does Perioperative Antibiotic Administration Decrease the Incidence of Prosthetic Joint Infection in Patients

Prophylactic antibiotics did not reduce prosthetic joint infection (PJI) rates in patients with prior hip or knee replacement undergoing elective hand surgery. This study found no significant difference in PJI incidence between antibiotic and non-antibiotic groups.
