Substance use and blood-borne infections remain significant public health concerns, particularly in underserved populations.

Purpose of the Study:

To present the development and implementation of ReportNeedles.ca, a web-based tool for real-time needle collection.
To describe the use of ReportNeedles.ca in a community health partnership for pop-up interventions.
To evaluate the tool's potential for blood-borne infection prevention, harm reduction, and community-based participatory research.

Main Methods:

Development of a web-based, real-time needle collection tool (ReportNeedles.ca).
Deployment and evaluation of pop-up interventions informed by app data.
Community-based participatory research approach involving public reporting and health agency collaboration.

Main Results:

Since April 2021, 34,350 needles were collected through 466 public reports via ReportNeedles.ca in Regina, Saskatchewan.
